4/365

Today I took lots of photos. Here is my photo of the day:

This was a close contender, but I think it's every so slightly not in focus, and the lighting isn't quite there:

I like short depth of field. Lots:

The view from the garden in the house I'm staying:

Some nice colour contrast - not great focus:

Today, Nik took lots of photos of me taking photos. I've chosen some of the ones, but I don't think I actually got the one of me taking my actual photo of the day (this makes sense to me. Sorry. I've spent a long time looking at photos. I've had a bit of a phototastic day. think I took about 400 photos. Though this did include boyband photos [see later post]..)

Anywho, Nik's 3Dee65 today:

About 05:20, a fair bit of a way up the hill. My face looks strange here. I got the wrong photo from Nik. Whoops.

Me, comtemplating the cloud layer we found ourselves in:

The way I managed to get down the steep gravel-covered slopes:

Here's my photo of the day - the photo of me taking the photo is below. Nik is still on track for his 3Dee65.

I have lots of time for photos at the mo, and I want to do this properly, so here are the other contenders for today. I will be good and not use them on another day.

Morning dew on spider's web on potted plant on decking outside house : )

Ferny frondy leaf from the side of a twisty road overlooking the lake. Quite proud of this - it's the only shot I took of it.

Where I am.

I'm currently staying in this wonderful cottage house type place : )

This morning, I woke up early, and peeped out of my window. I saw clouds. We were in the clouds. It's not a great photo, but I think you get the jist!

These cinnamon rolls were amazing. I cannot convey how tasty they were. You should check out the blog of their Creator - http://apocalypsebakery.wordpress.com/

(In the preview, this layout is Not Conforming. Sorry about that.)

I have a friend, apparently doing a 3Dee-65 project. He's taking pictures of me taking pictures. I like him.

The Lakes, and cakes.

Are not Edinburgh, but now I'm in the right mindset, they're wonderful. Good friends, good food, good times.

And so very many giggles.

I've been spending a bit of time emptying my memory card - shockingly I haven't done it for nearly a year (though I should point out I do have more than one). I thought I'd post some of the cakes I've made recently. I seem to have made a lot.

The first one is the cake I made for my second day at Red Gate. Talk of a possible rainbow cake on my first day led to me explaining that I've made one before. Could I make another? With chocolate and glitter? Yes. Did they believe that I was going to do it? No.

This stack is a batch of banana, walnut, almond and raisin muffins:

The was for the CU Ceilidh Band's first annual cake competition:

This is a Dorset Chocolate Mousse cake, made for a friend's barbeque. It's rather tasty with clotted cream and fresh raspberries.

And *this* is the watermelon cake. The recipe was new, and completely failed. I should've stuck with a plain sponge cake, but I thought I'd experiment with a cornflour cake. I still took it in for Cake Club, because it looked kind of cool, and it didn't taste as bad as I imagined it to. Win.

Pies, pies, pies.

1/365

So. I've finally bitten the bullet and started a 365.

I want to learn to use my camera properly. I usually adjust the depth of field, but that's as far as I go. I see so many images day to day that I want to capture, and I can't quite seem to record them as I see the scene. As Mr.Flibble says, the best way to get good at something is to do it every day.

Let's go then.

I'm not massively happy with either of my photos today, so you get both of them. I think I would've liked better light in the landscape, and more of the grass in the mushroom photo to be in focus, but I didn't notice until I uploaded it. Hey, room for improvement, right?
